Where your data is hosted has legal and practical consequences.
US law reaches US companies, even in Europe
AWS, Google Cloud and Azure are US companies subject to the CLOUD Act. US authorities can demand your data even when the servers are in Europe. GoedVPS has no US parent company and no US investors.
GDPR gets simpler
Sending EU personal data to the US means standard contractual clauses, transfer impact assessments and legal risk that does not go away. With GoedVPS your data stays in the Netherlands.
Schrems II does not affect you
In 2020 the EU Court of Justice struck down the Privacy Shield, which made moving EU personal data to the US much harder. Hosting in the EU avoids that uncertainty.

If your users are in Europe, servers in the Netherlands mean lower latency and faster pages.
